Thank You Pastor Uecker! Pastor Uecker from Our Savior, Madison, leads us in worship this morning.
Stewardship in Romans 7:14-25: St. Paul describes the conflict we Christians face each day of our lives. What we want to do we do not do, and what we hate we do. This sinful reality makes our lives as stewards more challenging but, thanks to Jesus, we have the victory over sin and the power of the Holy Spirit to help us do that which is pleasing to God and good for others as well as ourselves.
Life Quote: “The world sees those not yet born as ‘products of conception’ or a source of stem cells. We see children who need to be cherished, defended, and protected.” A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE

Stewardship in Romans 7:1-13: St. Paul reminds us that Christ died for us so that we might also die to sin, and he was raised from the dead so that we might bear fruit for God. Bearing fruit is at the heart and core of Christian stewardship. How we use our God-given time, skills and money is a mark of our stewardship.
Life Quote: “Our Lord faced opposition, but He continued to bring the Word of life and healing to many. Though the pro-life community may suffer reverses . . . we cannot give up the effort to fight for the unborn so that all humans are recognized as persons, beings valuable in and of themselves.” Rev. Stewardship in Romans 6:12-23: In our Epistle reading for today St. Paul states that because of Christ we have changed masters. Without Christ we are slaves to sin, but with Christ we are freed from that bondage to be willing servants of righteousness. As Christians we practice good stewardship not as a burden but rather as a privilege. That makes stewardship a joyful lifestyle.
Life Quote: “There is no sin too shameful, so much, that Jesus hasn’t paid for it. Nothing unfinished with Jesus. No half-way forgiveness with Him either.” Rev. Stewardship in Romans 5:6-15: Jesus died that we might live, and no longer live only for ourselves but rather for Him who died for us and rose again, so that we might experience the joy and excitement of doing good things for God and for others—not because we have to, but because we get to. Christian stewards enjoy doing the right things for the right reasons!
Life Quote: “God gave an ordinary man, Joseph, the unparalleled responsibility to care for and nurture Jesus. The carpenter from Nazareth did the best he could with the gifts God had given him. That's the responsibility God gives to fathers today. ‘Do the best you can with what I have given you to care for and nurture your children. Bring them to My house. Read them My Word. I will be at work in their lives and yours.’” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE

There Will Be Adult Bible Class Today: We are continuing our study of Luther’s Catechism. Please join us, you are never too old to review.
Stewardship in Romans 1:8-17: Paul’s stewardship of the Gospel was the highest priority in his life. Thus, he was willing to use all that he was and had to be to be a bold ambassador of Jesus Christ. In other passages of Holy Scripture we read that St. Paul considered all the “things” of this world as nothing compared to the treasure of knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Paul’s example encourages us not to set our hearts too much on the things of this world but rather to set our hearts on things above. That’s good stewardship.
Life Quote: “We certainly thank God for one another, for our beautiful country, for our armed forces, for the blessings of constitutional government—albeit by no means perfect—for our selves, our souls, our bodies, and all the other blessings of this life. But chiefly are we bound to thank God for the great salvation we have in our Lord and only Savior Jesus Christ! Only in Christ do we know the glorious liberty which eternally frees us from sin, death, and the Devil.” Fr. Philip Mullen, Ascension Orthodox Lutheran Fellowship, Columbus, Ohio. CAMP MINNEBOJI – June 22-28, 2008! “Don’t Forget His Lyrics” is the theme of Camp Minneboji this summer (June 22-28). God’s people have been remembering the great deeds of God through Psalms, hymns, and songs for centuries. Our Bible studies and other aspects of camp will be built on this theme, as the campers will especially be led by way of the Psalms to remember what God has done for them through Jesus. Camp Minneboji is for those who are currently in grades 4 through 9. The camp, located at Camp Okoboji in northwest Iowa, features Bible study, mission presentations, crafts, music time, sports and recreation. Cost is $225 for 4th-8th graders and $255 for 9th graders. Camp registration booklets will be mailed directly to last year’s campers and in bulk to the congregations by April 1. For more information, check out the camp’s Website: www.minneboji.com, or contact the Camp Dean, Rev. Scott Sailer (scottsailer@aol.com, 605/332-3401).

Stewardship in Acts 2:22-36: Peter demonstrated with boldness that Jesus of Nazareth not only died at the hands of His enemies, but was raised from the dead by the power of God to assure us that just as the grave could not keep its hold Jesus so it also cannot keep hold over us and all who believe in Jesus. This sure hope of everlasting life helps us not to get overly concerned with material things but rather to use all that we are and have to be good stewards of the Gospel of Jesus.

Life Quote: “LFL strives to connect moms to the promises of God’s presence in Christ—the presence of His strength to those hard-working and sometimes struggling and questioning moms, the presence of His power and forgiveness to teenage moms, the presence of His love and comfort to moms who have miscarried, the presence of His love, comfort, and forgiveness to those moms who have aborted, the presence of His hope for all the above, and His presence to help yet-to-be moms see the importance of chastity and marriage . . . when you help moms you've gone a long way in promoting the sanctity of human life.” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE
Stewardship in Acts 2:1-21: Empowered by the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit, Peter and the other disciples practiced good stewardship of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by boldly proclaiming that all who call upon the name of the Lord [Jesus] will be saved. Our stewardship is not just about time, talent and treasure, but also about our testimony. May the Holy Spirit help us always to be good stewards of the Gospel, first by believing it and then by sharing it with others.

Stewardship: 1 Peter 4:12-19; 5:6-11: St. Peter points out that regardless of how we might be mocked or ridiculed for managing all of life and life’s resources for God’s purposes, we will be blessed in this life and especially blessed in the life to come. What joy we have in knowing that what we do as Christian stewards really does have eternal consequences

Grazie! The spaghetti lunch held on April 27 was successful thanks to many of you who lent a hand to make it successful. Our proceeds totaled $1052.00 plus many donations for food items needed to prepare the meal. (Our additional grocery and bakery costs of $171.30 were donated by the Callies Farms Families) so that full amount was deposited to the Harvest Festival Account. These funds may be used for church maintenance, repair and upkeep projects in the future. Care and Congregation program funds under Thrivent may also be applied pending approval. We had a great work crew from the set up to tear down, advertising and decorating, preparing and serving, organizing and cashiering. The salads and desserts were wonderful and very much appreciated. Again, Grazie to each of you who helped and participated with this event!

Life Quote: “Christians must realize that abortion—and the pandemic of devaluing life abortion spawns—is a spiritual issue. There will be ‘nothing new under the sun’ regarding the sanctity of human life until Christians realize this, act upon it, and bring their influence to bear to transform a society obsessed with death into a society that upholds the preciousness of life.” Rev. Stewardship in 1 Peter 3:13-22: St. Peter reminds us that we may suffer for what is right, but we will be blessed in doing so. People who do not understand true Christian stewardship may shake their heads when they see us using generous portions of our time, talent and treasure for the work of the Lord. But we Christian stewards know in doing the Lord’s work we are doing the right things and building up treasures for the new life to come.
