Ladies Aid Meeting, December 5, 2007

St. Johns Ladies Aid

The December 5th meeting for St. Johns Ladies Aid was called to order by Thelma Hueners. Pastor Watt presented a devotional from Isiah 40. The secretary’s report was read and approved. With the treasurer’s report, Bev also reported on the sausage dinner.

Correspondence was read from Lutheran Hour Ministries, The Family Connection, and The Banquet. A thank you was received from the Miner County Community Health office and a donation to the Ladies’ Aid from Irma Hardick.

Committee reports: Bonnie Litterick thanked everyone for their help and donations for the sausage dinner. The committee met and decided to plan an earlier date for next year. Bonnie reported that 250 people were served. The tree at the courthouse is up and Janice thanked Mae Brummett for making the ornaments. Janice and Theowne served 13 people at the EMT class Tuesday night. Bev and Karen well serve Thursday. Sunshine chairman, Lorraine Laufmann, reported that she has sent 21 cards this year and has donated the cards and postage. Thelma thanked Lorraine for the donation.
Old Business: Since we have not yet recieved our band calendar, Thelma will check at the school. The LWML Sunday will be held Jan. 20th. Thelma explained the procedure for saving and trimming stamps for missions. They are to be given to Bonnie or put in a box in the entry of the church. There is also a box for used printer cartridges. Molly explained that there is a church page in the Pioneer that can be used for church events and schedules.

New Business: Rosie and Joyce made the motion to give Pastor’s gift as other years. Money and food was collected at the meeting. It was decided to give the money , amounting to $50, to the Miner County Project. A motion was made by Bonnie and Joyce to give $20 gift certificates to Rafferty’s to the Sunday School teachers.

Roll call showed 15 members present and one visitor, Kristi Bartscher, who joined our group.

Sick to remember is Delores Callies. Birthdays for December are Lila Hurry, Bonnie Litterick, Waunita Watt, and Bev Voeltz.

The meeting was adjourned with the LWML pledge.

A Christmas program was presented by Mavis and Janice.

The Lord’s Prayer and table prayer were said and Christmas goodies, brought by all members, were enjoyed. Our January meeting will be a Potluck at 12:00 noon.

Lutherans for Life Quote: “The womb was a necessary place for God to be. Our beginning there was sinful (Psalm 51:5). God came to seek and to save us by taking our place from the very beginning. When God came to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He was showing how He valued them in spite of their sin. God entering a womb shows how He values all human life from that moment. His beginning there hallows our beginning there. Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, Executive Director, Lutherans For Life A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE

Pastor Watt on Main Street Living: Look for Pastor Watt to preach on KDLT TV (5) at 10am or KAUN-PAX-TV at 11am, Sunday December 16, 2007.

Life Quote: “I believe we must use all of our abilities to be a voice for those who have none. I believe that each life has hope, meaning, and purpose. Each life is designed by God. Scripture reminds us of God’s love, ‘For I have redeemed you’ (Isaiah 43:1); ‘I have called you by name’ (Isaiah 43:1 ESV); ‘You were bought with a price’ (1 Corinthians 6:20 ESV). These words are true not just for those who were formed ‘normal’ on the outside but are words for all of God’s creation.” Roberta Bandy, preschool teacher, mother, and author. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE

Stewardship Romans 15:4-13: “Ready-Set-Come!” Who are God’s watchful and wise stewards? They are people of hope who, while waiting for our Lord’s return, live in harmony with one another and practice hospitality and other Christian acts of kindness.
