Worship This Week

Ushers : Tom Hueners, Gary Bell, Riley Schwader, Greg Beyer
Elder: Gary Hueners
Greeters: John and Lela Rentschler
Acolyte: Hunter Eggert

Announcements

NOTE: Worship Services Next Week will be at 10:30am. Pastor Watt is on vacation beginning May 26 through June 8. Pastor Uecker from Our Savior, Madison is filling in. Church time has been changed to allow for pastor Uecker’s travel time. If you have pastoral care needs please contact one of the elders. Rod Ulrich, Jerry Sprecher, Max Schwader, Gary Hueners, Jim Rentschler

There Will Be Adult Bible Class Today: We are continuing our study of Luther’s Catechism. Please join us, you are never too old to review.

Stewardship in Romans 1:8-17: Paul’s stewardship of the Gospel was the highest priority in his life. Thus, he was willing to use all that he was and had to be to be a bold ambassador of Jesus Christ. In other passages of Holy Scripture we read that St. Paul considered all the “things” of this world as nothing compared to the treasure of knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Paul’s example encourages us not to set our hearts too much on the things of this world but rather to set our hearts on things above. That’s good stewardship.

Life Quote: “We certainly thank God for one another, for our beautiful country, for our armed forces, for the blessings of constitutional government—albeit by no means perfect—for our selves, our souls, our bodies, and all the other blessings of this life. But chiefly are we bound to thank God for the great salvation we have in our Lord and only Savior Jesus Christ! Only in Christ do we know the glorious liberty which eternally frees us from sin, death, and the Devil.” Fr. Philip Mullen, Ascension Orthodox Lutheran Fellowship, Columbus, Ohio. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE

LWML Fall Zone Rally "Ingathering" please bring the following items to church by June for distribution through LWML. Our first time using them will following pastor Watt’s vacation, on June 15th. Those who purchased hymnals for use at home are free to take them following the service today.

This Week at St. John’s

Today: 9:30am—Divine Service

10:30am—Adult Bible Class

Monday: Pastor Watt on Vacation May 26-June 8

Wednesday: No Bible Class

Next Sunday: 10:30am—Divine Service (pr. Personal Hygiene Items; Personal Care Products; Paper Products;
CAMP MINNEBOJI – June 22-28, 2008! “Don’t Forget His Lyrics” is the theme of Camp Minneboji this summer (June 22-28). God’s people have been remembering the great deeds of God through Psalms, hymns, and songs for centuries. Our Bible studies and other aspects of camp will be built on this theme, as the campers will especially be led by way of the Psalms to remember what God has done for them through Jesus. Camp Minneboji is for those who are currently in grades 4 through 9. The camp, located at Camp Okoboji in northwest Iowa, features Bible study, mission presentations, crafts, music time, sports and recreation. Cost is $225 for 4th-8th graders and $255 for 9th graders. Camp registration booklets will be mailed directly to last year’s campers and in bulk to the congregations by April 1. For more information, check out the camp’s Website: www.minneboji.com, or contact the Camp Dean, Rev. Scott Sailer (scottsailer@aol.com, 605/332-3401).
Holy Tour with Pastor Nabil Nour. You are invited to join the Holy Land "Nour Tour" The tour leaves from MN on Thursday September the 30th for an 12 day tour. The price is $3250.00 per person. If you are interested please contact Pastor Nour via e-mail. redeemarmour@unitelsd.com nabilsnour@hotmail.com (605)724-2489 (O) (605)724-2722 (H) http://afootwasher.org
Stewardship in Acts 2:22-36: Peter demonstrated with boldness that Jesus of Nazareth not only died at the hands of His enemies, but was raised from the dead by the power of God to assure us that just as the grave could not keep its hold Jesus so it also cannot keep hold over us and all who believe in Jesus. This sure hope of everlasting life helps us not to get overly concerned with material things but rather to use all that we are and have to be good stewards of the Gospel of Jesus.
THIS WEEK AT ST. Dr. James I. Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE
Stewardship in Acts 2:1-21: Empowered by the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit, Peter and the other disciples practiced good stewardship of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by boldly proclaiming that all who call upon the name of the Lord [Jesus] will be saved. Our stewardship is not just about time, talent and treasure, but also about our testimony. May the Holy Spirit help us always to be good stewards of the Gospel, first by believing it and then by sharing it with others.
LWML Fall Zone Rally "Ingathering" please bring the following items to church by June for distribution through LWML. Please come and let them do as Jesus says, So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, (Matthew 10:32 ESV)
This Week at St. John’s
Today: 9:30am—Divine Service
10:30am—Sunday School and Adult Bible Class
12:30pm—Worship at Good Samaritan
Monday: Pastor’s Day Off
6:15pm—Evening Guild
Wednesday: 9:00am—Bible Study—Church Basement
1:30pm—Afternoon LWML
7:30pm—Confirmation Questioning
Thursday: 9:00am—Bible Study—Sunrise Terrace
Friday 2:30pm—Worhsip Service at Whispering Winds
Saturday 10:30am—Reva Behm Funeral
Next Sunday: 9:30am—Divine Service w/ Holy Communion and Confirmation
10:30am—Adult Bible Class
No Sunday School
God’s People at Prayer
Jon Albrecht, Judy Lucht, Maynard Hahn, Anita Peterson, Cylie Pastian, Flo Bader, Skyler Hoyer.

noreply@blogger.com (Rev.
